Molly and Harry celebrate their wedding day at Blackwell Grange

A Spring Romance

A Spring Romance

Molly and Harry chose Blackwell Grange for their special day, delighting their guests with a delicate colour scheme, romantic spring flowers, a delicious menu and live music.

The Perfect Venue

Searching for the dream venue for their wedding day, Molly and Harry knew Blackwell Grange was ‘the one’ as soon as they drove down the driveway. They loved the space, the light and airy feel of the Orchard Barn and the ambience of the Thatch Barn. A March date was set, and the planning commenced!

“The whole venue was simply stunning without any decoration at all – so we knew we could make it look perfect for our special day.”

Setting the Scene

Embracing the natural beauty of the season, the happy couple chose a delicate colour scheme of pale pink, rose gold and other pastel shades, incorporating blossom trees wherever they could.

Two blossom trees framed the front of the Thatch Barn, with fairy lights hanging from the branches, and smaller blooms lined the aisle. In the Orchard Barn, white blossom trees sat on some tables, while floral arrangements in mismatched vases and vintage glasses sat on others. Finally, drapes and fairy lights hung from the ceiling, and a wonderful floral garland dressed the spiral staircase.

“At the entrance to the Orchard Barn, we had a white sweet cart with rose gold ‘Mr & Mrs Gould’ lettering. We also put out pink flip flops in baskets for the guests – they went down very well during the evening!”

Bridal Style

The bride was stunning in a Pronovias gown with detailed button-down back and lace around the top.

“I loved the way I felt in it. I would never normally wear anything fitted but I felt like a princess and didn’t want to take it off!”

Molly accessorised with a Ronald Joyce veil and a custom-made hairpiece and bracelet by Annie at Tallulah’s Trinkets, using pearls in the bracelet that had belonged to her grandmother.

“My shoes, probably my favourite accessory, were Chanel and tied in perfectly with the pearls on my hairpiece and bracelet.”

Harry and his groomsmen looked the part in navy suits by Jeff Banks for Debenhams while Molly’s bridesmaids were beautiful in dresses from Lily Rose Bridal Boutique, True Bride and Emma Bridals.

Order of the Day

Following their romantic ceremony in the Thatch Barn, the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed welcome drinks and canapés on the Cider Lawn, introducing a Bellini bar where guests could add their own flavours and fruits to their fizz!

Adding to the ambience, a musician sang and played the guitar during the ceremony and outside during the drinks reception.

Moving into the Orchard Barn to dine, confit duck was a delicious starter, followed by fillet of beef and, for pudding, a trio of Bakewell Tart, iced raspberry and vanilla mousse and dark chocolate fudge cake.

“It was all amazing! Guests commented on how impressed they were with our food – it just wasn’t a ‘normal’ wedding meal.”

As the sun went down, Molly and Harry danced their first dance to ‘The One’ by Kodaline and wood fired pizza was served in the walled garden – a magical finale to this magnificent day.

Favourite Moments

“I enjoyed the ceremony so much. There was a lot of emotion and humour and it felt so personal that I almost forgot we were surrounded by so many people!”

“Another of my favourite moments was during the wedding breakfast. It was so nice to sit and see everyone enjoying themselves so much. The best man’s speech was also a real highlight of the day.”

Advice from the Bride

“It’s easy to get carried away trying to make everyone else happy in the lead up to the wedding. Ultimately it is your special day, so do what makes YOU happy! Make sure you take some time to appreciate the excitement of the day, both in the build up to the wedding and on the day itself.”
