Wedding Day Timeline

Blackwell Grange has been designed entirely with weddings in mind. To put it simply, we live and breathe beautiful and elegant weddings.

8 AM

Your Big Day is Here

You have waited many months for today and now it is finally here. It is time to spend your incredible wedding day at this tranquil wedding venue in the Cotswolds. All your planning is a distant memory and we are hard at work creating your perfect day and menu. It’s almost time to travel to Blackwell Grange and arrive down the long driveway which opens out to reveal your wedding venue.

10 AM

The Potting Shed Awaits

From 10 am you will be able to access The Potting Shed, your warm and inviting dressing room. This fun space is designed for that all-important pampering and is furnished with everything you could need for putting the finishing touches to your look. We have a selection of grazing boards and drinks available for you to preorder, to enjoy with your nearest and dearest while getting ready.

11 AM

Your Exclusive Hire Begins

Blackwell Grange is yours for the day, and while you are pampering and preening, we will be making sure that The Thatch Barn is picture perfect and working closely with your chosen suppliers to transform The Orchard Barn, bringing your wedding to life. If you have chosen a church wedding, we will amend the running of the day to accommodate these arrangements. You can find eight picturesque churches within easy reach of Blackwell Grange.

Day Guests Begin to Arrive

As you are putting together the final touches in The Potting Shed, our Events Team will greet your guests and direct them into The Thatch Barn to take their seats.

Meet with the Registrar

Just before the ceremony, you will both (separately) answer a few questions with the registrar. This is an informal chat, so you are both prepared for the next steps.

SAY ‘I DO’

Your guests will be seated and awaiting your imminent arrival. Make the walk along the Herringbone paths and take a moment to gather your thoughts in The Servery with your wedding party before entering The Thatch Barn and walking down the aisle to the open fire place. Get ready for some of the most important words you will ever say.

1:30 PM

Welcome Drinks

After your ceremony, mingle with your guests on Apple Tree lawn or Cider Lawn and treat them to welcome drinks and a delicious selection of canapés in your chosen location.

2 PM

Camera Ready

Your photographer will take some of the most romantic spots at Blackwell Grange favourites being the Chestnut Dell and the Moon Gate.

Your Wedding Breakfast

Wander along the Herringbone paths to The Orchard Barn where your meticulously planned and prepared wedding breakfast awaits. The barn is a truly exceptional space for dining and dancing and is specifically designed to be a blank canvas, so you can realise your ideal wedding ideas to make this space truly yours. Make your first entrance as a married couple past the helical staircase and copper bar and into your wedding reception.

Say a Few Words

Blackwell Grange is yours to enjoy, so it is up to you whether you hold your speeches before or after the wedding breakfast. Once you have finished your first meal as a married couple, spend your time on the picturesque terrace and loggia beside the Cider Lawn or in the Snug a quiet area where your guests can relax in an eclectic and alluring setting. Your evening entertainment can take this opportunity to discreetly set up and get everything ready for the perfect party.

Evening Guests Begin to Arrive

Any evening guests will arrive and start to join the party at this time. If necessary, we can subtly adjust the layout of The Orchard Barn to accommodate a larger party, and make room for the dance floor, of course.

6:30 PM

First Dance and Cake Cutting

Now all your friends and family have gathered and are ready to witness you cut the cake and come together for your first dance as a married couple. Traditionally, you would cut the cake and then take to the floor, but you can choose to do things however you like when you celebrate at Blackwell Grange.

7 PM

Get the Party Started

It is time to turn the music up and dance the night away with the ones you love, give them the warmest of welcomes with a glass of prosecco on arrival (please speak to our team for more information on food and drink upgrades). Any additional entertainment that you may want to offer, such as a photo booth, can easily be accommodated.

8 PM

Exciting Evening Food

As evening falls, you can treat your guests to an array of stunning food options served in the Walled Herb Garden next to The Hayloft Cottage. Our chefs will cook anything from wood-fired pizzas to a barbecue feast and fragrant wok food, which can either be served to your guests outside as the sun sets or indoor should the weather take a turn for the worse.

Last Orders

Your bar manager will call last orders and start to draw the night to a close. Your DJ or band will turn down the tempo and change the evening music to a calmer level, making it the perfect time for you to say thank you and goodnight.

11 PM

Wind Down

We ask that all music ends and the bar will close.

11:30 PM

Carriages

We ask that all guests vacate the venue at 11:30pm. We recommend local taxis are booked in advance to avoid disappointment and due to the rural location of the venue.
